Full Professorship (W3) for Epidemiology

The University of Potsdam’s Faculty of Health Sciences – a joint Faculty of the University of Potsdam, the Brandenburg Medical School “Theodor Fontane”, and the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg – invites applications for a joint professorship under the Karlsruhe Model with the German Institute of Human Nutrition Potsdam-Rehbrücke (DIfE) to be filled as soon as possible: 


Full Professorship (W3) for Epidemiology 


The University of Potsdam and the DIfE seek to fill this position with an outstanding, internationally recognized scientist with an excellent track record in the field of nutritional epidemiology. The successful candidate will establish an independent Joint Research Group "Epidemiology" at the DIfE. The group is expected to investigate determinants of food choice and nutritional behavior or to work on nutritional aspects throughout the aging process and complement the research of the groups dealing with the biological basis of nutritional behavior or with nutrition and healthy aging. The development and application of new dietary assessment methods, which incorporate available technological innovations, would also be welcome. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of concepts for the use and further development of the epidemiological studies carried out at the DIfE. Therefore, the group will be located at Potsdam-Rehbrücke. 

An international network and experience in the acquisition of third-party funding as well as proven pedagogical aptitude are required. The appointed individual must teach in the program "Master of Public Health, Exercise, and Nutrition" which is to be newly established and must be able to represent the full disciplinary breadth of the subject of epidemiology in teaching. The teaching obligation will be at least 4 hours per week. 

The joint appointment is based on the Karlsruhe Model, with full academic rights and duties at the University of Potsdam. In a part-time capacity, the jointly appointed individual will take on additional responsibilities at the cooperating research institution. 

The hiring process is subject to the requirements set forth in Section 41 subsection 1 no. 1 - 3, 4a and 4c of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG). The appointment procedure is conducted in accordance with Section 40 BbgHG.
