Food4Future (f4f)
The joint project food4future - Food of the Future (f4f), funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of the Agricultural Systems of the Future program, is investigating radical innovations for a sustainable and healthy food supply.
The project is coordinated by the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ). The overall goal of F4F is to ensure sufficient and healthy food in the future in a sustainable manner. The DIfE is working on the research field "Smart Nutrition and Wearable Sensors" together with the Department of Telematics at the Technical University of Wildau. In a human study, novel skin sensors for determining carotenoid status, a specially programmed carotenoid nutrition app, and standardized methods (blood analyses, questionnaires) will be used and compared over a period of 8 weeks. Novel products developed in F4F (e.g. algae smoothie) are to be included via nutritional recommendations through the app in a follow-up study.
