German Centre for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK)

The DZHK bundles knowledge and core competencies of various scientific institutions on a national level. To ensure that results are rapidly transferred from the laboratory to the patient, it promotes in particular the networking of basic research and clinical research. The aim is to improve therapies, diagnostics and prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

The DZHK focuses on three main areas of research:

  • Prevention and therapy of myocardial infarction
  • Prevention and individualized therapy of heart failure
  • Prevention of sudden cardiac death

In this context, DIfE as a partner provides important insights into the role of nutrition and aging for heart health. The DZHK site in Berlin combines DIfE expertise at the regional level with Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the Max Delbrück Center, the German Heart Institute, and the Robert Koch Institute.
