GERMAN DIABETES RISK SCORE

In Germany, more than eight million people live with type 2 diabetes. The number of unreported cases is at least two million. Our researchers have developed the DIfE – GERMAN DIABETES RISK SCORE (GDRS)  based on data from large long-term German studies. The GDRS is available as a questionnaire or online version and offers the possibility to determine the individual risk of developing type 2 diabetes within the next ten years. The test is non-invasively and to use free of charge at home. It also provides information on ways to reduce the personal risk of developing the disease. In this way, the occurrence of type 2 diabetes can be counteracted by a health-oriented lifestyle.

The GDRS has steadily gained popularity in recent years and is successfully used by health insurance companies, pharmacies, companies and associations.

The GDRS was developed by DIfE with public funds (German federal, Brandenburg state, and European Union funds). It is based on data of the Potsdam European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition. Its further development is financed under the framework of DZD research.
