1 student research assistant (m/f/d)

The German Institute of Human Nutrition Potsdam-Rehbruecke (DIfE) is a member of the Leibniz Association. The institute’s mission is to conduct experimental and clinical research in the field of nutrition and health, with the aim of understanding the molecular basis of nutrition-dependent diseases, and of developing new strategies for treatment and prevention. 

The Junior Research Group Neurocircuit Development and Function (NDF) invites applications for

1 student research assistant (m/f/d)

We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible. This is a fixed-term contract, initially running until 31.03.2022.


  • Processing and microtome-sectioning of frozen brain slices for immunohistochemical analysis
  • Preparing buffers and additional reagents to support ongoing projects
  • General organization and assistance within the research projects

Additional potential tasks:

  • RNA isolation from cell and tissue samples, RT-qPCR quantification of gene expression
  • Use of the relevant software (e.g. Office Suite, FIJI, Prism) for analyses
  • Protein isolation from cell and tissue samples and analyses by Western Blotting
  • Support for brain explant tissue culture work 


Your profile:

  • You are a current student of nutrition sciences, neuroscience, biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or a comparable degree program 
  • You have no 2nd paid employment
  • Preferably 10 working hours per week


  • For students in a Bachelor's degree program: 10,63 €
  • For students in a Master's degree program: 12,37 €

We offer an excellent research environment in an international team, the possibility to learn new additional techniques, and a varied work schedule. 

We expect a high level of commitment, flexibility and reliability.

Depending on the weekly working time (preferably 10 hours per week), the employment is either a marginal contract (€ 450 per month) or a „sliding scale“-contract.
