Representatives
In accordance with the Brandenburg Data Protection Act (BbgDSG), the Data Protection Officer is the contact person for all questions regarding the protection of personal data at DIfE. He informs and advises the Executive Board and employees about the rights and obligations resulting from data protection. In addition, he monitors compliance with the relevant regulations and trains and sensitizes employees. Upon request, he is available to advise those affected by data processing.

Dr. Annett Braune and Andrea Teichmann support the management of the DIfE in implementing gender equality in accordance with the State Equality Act (LGG) and a family-conscious personnel policy for employees. They advise and support employees on issues of gender equality at the institute and in cases of discrimination, sexual harassment, mobbing and discrimination in the workplace.

The inclusion officer advises and supports severely disabled employees and employees with equal rights at the DIfE from the time of hiring until the end of the contract. She assists with applications for preventive measures, applications for the determination of a disability, and applications for equal treatment. In addition, it ensures that the institute fulfills its obligations to the group of severely disabled employees and employees with equal rights.

Jutta Schwenk is committed to the safety and accident prevention of employees at their workplaces and to the prevention of work-related illnesses. As an occupational safety specialist in the laboratory area, she monitors compliance with the relevant regulations, trains employees and raises their awareness.

The animal welfare officers of the DIfE advise the scientists on the planning, application and performance of animal experiments, taking into account the implementation of the "3R principle" (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement). They ensure that laboratory animals are kept and cared for in a manner appropriate to animal welfare and that the legal regulations governing animal experiments are observed. The animal welfare officers are supported in these tasks by the DIfE Animal Welfare Committee, which is chaired by Dr. Christine Krüger.

Elected
The ombudsperson is the contact person for researchers at DIfE who suspect misconduct with respect to the rules of good scientific practice. She advises and helps in conflict situations.
Every four years the DIfE's research scientists elect the ombudsperson.

The Staff Council is the independent representation of the employees' interests vis-à-vis the management of the DIfE. It consists of seven members and is elected by the employees every four years. The Staff Council supports and advises the employees and mediates between them and the Executive Board.

All doctoral students from the DIfE and the Institute of Nutritional Science (IEW) at the University of Potsdam elect the members of the doctoral student representation once a year. Their members represent the common interests of the doctoral students and are the contact persons for questions and suggestions concerning doctoral education at both institutes.

The Representative Council for Severely Disabled Employees (SBV) has the task of promoting the integration of severely disabled persons in the company. It represents their interests in the department and provides them with advice and assistance.
The DIfE does not currently have an SBV. The Staff Council represents the rights of severely disabled employees.
